TRANSDUCER & HOUSING DESIGN

Our transducers are individually catered to the user and thrive in a variety of underwater applications. Customizable design criteria includes:

  • Acoustic frequency (single and multi-frequency)
  • Beamwidth and type (single or split)
  • Sidelobe level, TVR, OCV
  • Housing Design
  • Housing material (depth dependent)
  • Pressure rating
  • Mounting style
  • Connector & cable types/ configurations
  • Overall dimensions and weight (typically designed as low profile and lightweight as possible).

Whether you need us to design a housing for you, or you'd like to supply one, we will work with you to come up with the best solution for your underwater application.

Small batch and prototype builds as well as large quanty orders are welcomed.

Homeland defence deep-op, hazardous fluid inspection transducers (multiple sizes & frequencies).

ACOUSTIC TEST FACILITY

Transonics currently operates an Acoustic Test Facility at their Utah location with a second facility underway in Rhode Island (Exp. 2025).

The west coast tank is 16 FT. long, 6 FT. wide, and 6 FT. deep and is used to test all manufactured products for QAQC. On either end of the tank is a gantry system above it that can rotate 360 degrees and has all necessary electronics used for signal processing and data acquisition.

Prior to shipping, each transducer is tested in our acoustic tank for quality assurance and control. Data packages include:

  • Transmit (S/V (db RE 1 μPA/V @ 1m))
  • Receive (OCVR (db RE 1 V/μPA))
  • Impediance
  • Beam patterns (60, 120,180, & 360 deg)
  • For additional data measurements and packages, please inquire.

The acoustic tank and testing facility has also been used by our customers for transducer calibration and to test for material acoustic absorbtion, reflection, and transmition characteristics.

CALIBRATION & REPAIR

Transonics transducers can be returned for re-calibraiton, troubleshooting services, and housing, acoustic face, and cable/connector repairs. When applicable, we can repair alternatively sourced products and provide acoustic data packages to ensure the unit is working propertly upon completion.  Available services include:

  • Initial physical checks for damage, corrosion, water intrusion, cable and connector damage
  • Acoustic check and performance compared to data from initial manufacturing acceptance test
  • Replacement and/or repair of cable or connector
  • Cleaning of housing and acoustic face
  • Acoustic face resurfacing
  • Calibration of sensor
